The weekend rains saw rising river levels as so often is the case and it comes as no surprise to those of us that have lived in Horley for many years.
The Burstow Stream can flood where it crosses the A23 at Bonehurst Bridge and the surrounding fields lie under water.
Lake Lane itself was covered.
What does surprise us is that the council planners deny this and continue to allow an estate of houses to be built in these areas.
Many housing estates have official names but become better known by their local colloquial names.
I always call the estate being built in Lake Lane, the Floodplains Estate, and suggest others do the same. At least people moving into the area will know what they are moving into.
