Horley Town Youth 1
Cobham Youth 2
Horley began their semi-final tie against Cobham in the Combined Counties Grant McLellen Cup confidently in front of more than 180 spectators.
Town had most of the possession in the first 45 minutes but with little penetration from either side, the game was a typical semi-final tie.
A couple of strong runs by Rhys Brown into the heart of the Cobham defence resulted in two corners which Horley failed to capitalise on, and the first half finished goalless.
But in the second half, Horley made progress with Lewis Forsdick making a strong run through the centre to be one on one with the keeper.
Good defending by the centre back prevented a shot on goal.
The midfield threat of the Cobham number 8 was a constant worry and he made several runs into the box only to be thwarted by the tackles of Harry Williams and Liam Cox.
In another Horley attack, Jamie Risebrow went one on one and again the Cobham defender managed to get a foot in to deny the shot on goal.
At full time the scoresheet was still blank.
The first period of extra time proved no different, but in the second period, Cobham broke into the centre and their number 7 rounded keeper Puttick to put Cobham in front, despite protests from Horley about an offside.
With time running out, Luke Raggetti chased a long, hopeful ball into the Cobham area and a clash with the goalie resulted in him rolling the ball into an empty net to equalise.
In the penultimate minute, a cross from the left found Glen Keepen at the far post, but his header was just tipped over by the Cobham keeper.
In a tense final minute, the Cobham number 8 managed to wriggle through the centre to poke home past Puttick into the Horley goal for a dramatic late winner.
