Horley Town Youth 2

Horley's under 18s travelled to Guildford for the first leg of this Grant-Mclellan Youth Cup tie.

Town started well and were soon on top with Harry Williams and Glen Keepen controlling the midfield.

They took the lead from a corner when centre-back Neil Gowen found space and the loose ball to put Town in front.

City tried to get back into the game and had a good spell half way through the half. They were two down when Rhys Brown managed to ride a terrible challenge when he should have had a foul but the ref played the advantage which allowed Rhys to continue into the box and beat the keeper at his near post.

The second half saw Horley continue to pressure City, but their passing football disappeared as they tried to force the game with the long pass which didn't work.

The tie ended 2-0 to Horley and City will have to do alot better if they are to overcome Town at the New Defence, which on this performance looks unlikely.

Sandhurst 0

Horley Town 2

Game abandoned after 65 mins

Town travelled to Sandhurst on a very wet and unpleasent Saturday. The game had looked in doubt before the start due to the monsoon conditions.

Town adjusted to the conditions better than Sandhurst and were looking good for the three points after goals from Sean David and Damon Aston.

But Town's bad luck continued when after 65 minutes the referee had no option but to abandon the game due to the amount of water on the pitch that was making it dangerous for the players.
