Reigate Priory I 4 Goan I 1
Reigate Priory have moved closer to a return to the regional leagues with an unconvincing display against a feisty Goan team.
With regular captain Phil Jones absent and only 11 players to choose from, things were always going to be tough for Reigate, especially against one of the league's more physical teams. But Reigate took an early lead from an angled cross from Jade Hearne for Lawson to bury the ball.
Within five minutes this lead was doubled as Lawson scored his second from close range.
Reigate, captained by Mark Robinson, pushed forward and overexposed themselves to concede a goal.
Despite the best efforts of Pye and a diving Peden deflection, Reigate were kept at bay by the post and the keeper.
Peden was forced off with a suspected broken finger, reducing Reigate to 10 men. But Priory adapted and Pye scored a brace to seal the win.
If second-placed Surrey University fail to beat Goan this week, Reigate Priory will be a confirmed regional-league club.
