Folk giant Richie Havens will be at The Hawth in Crawley for a concert on Saturday, October 11, at 8pm.
Richie, who emerged from the Greenwich Village folk scene in the early 1960s, cemented his place in contemporary music with his performance at Woodstock in 1969.

He improvised a song based on an old spiritual, Motherless Child, and it became the track Freedom. The song is held by many to be an anthem of that generation.
Richie, who was asked to perform at Bill Clinton's presidential inauguration in 1993, has more than 25 albums to his name and is still much in demand for touring. Tickets for his Hawth show are £17.50 and available on 01293 553636.
