First met Dr Williams 28 yrs ago. He helped me go from addict to substance misuse/homeless worker. Without his input that wouldn't have been possible. He will be missed by all those he helped.

I am amongst the very many who will miss this special man. For years I enjoyed his wit, his wry and sardonic sense of humour and his really awful jokes. There were so many people at his funeral. They all came to pay their respects to someone who had really touched their lives. I do not think that I have ever heard so many beautiful comments from all those who had known him. A good, kind, caring individual who will be fond;y remembered always. Until we meet again , ga neirigh an bothar leat a chara.

So sad to hear of the devastating news of the death of Hugh. I grew up with Hugh, went to school with him and regarded him as one of my closest friends - and still did after he left Ireland as any time we talked over the phone it was like old times. He was groomsman at my wedding and the smartest, most generous friend a guy could have. My thoughts are with his family now. He was truly, one in a million.

Heartfelt Condolences to Hugh's family and friends. I went to school with Hugh in Dublin in the 70s. We became friends and played in a band with our friend Ciaran Daly back in 1975. I have fond memories of the man: his high energy and cheerfulness, his inate kindness and sense of fun. It was a privilege to know you, Hugh. Rest in peace. Broz

I was lucky enough to be part of a social scene in the mid to late 70s in Dublin with Hugh as a central character. Hugh always added a cheerful fun atmosphere to any social gathering. He went out of his way to make people feel liked and appreciated. A nice guy for sure. Very sad to see Hugh pass so early. I honestly only ever had positive experiences when I encountered Hugh. May he rest in peace. Patrick Dillon

Many sympathies to Hugh's family on this very sad news. I am an old friend of Doms and have some very fond memories of hanging around in the William's home in Blackrock when we were in school and listening to the band at work in the conservatory at the back of the house.
Hugh always had a funny quip and a smile. Chris O'C

To all of Hugh’s family my sincere condolences on his passing. We grew up together in Dublin, played sport together, socialised together and played in bands together. Hugh was a very talented drummer in his day. This picture was taken in Stephen’s Green in Dublin around 1975.
Pass on peacefully my friend.
